Hi there, Karen,
Thank you for your interest and for your kind offer! We are currently “on hold” with producing SeaHope bags. As a Board we’re discussing the effectiveness of the program and ways we might move forward.
If we do find a need for more Artists’ Bags we’d love your help!
Hi there, Kath!
At this time we aren’t needing any additional sail material for the bags. We have lots made up and we’re discussing where to take the project from here. If we do need more sails in the future we’ll put out a notice on the SeaHope site!
I may be able to help move this project forward since you mentioned that you were “on hold” to determine how to move forward.
I’m a sailor and a quilter so I have the view from both sides. Let me tell you, my husband and I have been racing sailboats for over 33 years and I’ve been a quilter for over 25, and these two hobbies combine beautifully! I have a couple bags made from old sails and they are wonderful. Every sailor has at least one suit (usually two sails) of sails stored in their garage that they aren’t using, so getting donated sails is not that hard. If you’re looking for a supply of sails, simply Google “sailing club” in whatever city or state you’re located in and bingo – there you have contact info. As for marketing on a big basis, I’d like to suggest US Sailing. They are a huge organization, but check out their website and see if you can get a response. If not, let me know and I’ll try and hook you up (we have a few connections). I’m not sure what you’re looking for, but I’m sure we can figure it out so we can use up those old sails, make enough money to keep your company in business, and raise enough money for charity. Sounds like a win-win-win situation for everyone!
Contact me if you have any questions.
Hi Wanda, Do you know how awesome it is and you are for thinking through some possible paths for this project??! You are wonderful! We are in the process of evaluating the future path of SeaHope and how it might progress. We may make some changes down the road. But in the meantime, I’ve contacted US Sailing to see if they might include a link to SeaHope on their site. I think sailors would especially love these bags! For anyone reading this, think of the sailors and bikers…anyone who could really use a bag like this and pass along the link to our site.
Thank you to you, Wanda, and to everyone who is a partner in this cause.
I’m a quilter and would love to know how to get involved in making these bags. I live in Fort Myers, FL.
Thank you for your response.
